Treasure of the Llanganatis

On the vast amounts of Inca gold possibly buried deep inside the Cordillera de Llanganates of Ecuador. In 1533, conquistador Francisco Pizarro agreed to allow the Inca Atahualpa his freedom in exchange for filling a room with gold. However, Pizarro distrusted Atahualpa and killed him before all the treasure had arrived. The Inca general Rumiñahui, coming down from the area of modern Ecuador with 750 tons of gold, turned back upon hearing of the murder of Atahualpa and returned to prepare to fight the Spaniards in the north. In this time he is supposed to have gone into the Llanganates and hid the treasure. Though eventually captured and tortured he never revealed the secret of the treasures location, or if it was real.
